I bought the Canon SD770IS to substitute a PowerShot A95. Few years ago, I purchased a Digital Elph for my daughter and found myself using that small and light camera, instead of my A95. Given advancements in technology, it was time to upgrade.
The most important feature in searching for a substitute was smaller size and the use of a rechargeable battery. Resolution was less a factor as the A95, with just 5 Mpixels, produced clear images. The most noted improvement, even over the previous Elph, was in the acceleration of all functions including boot up and image recording.
Image quality is amazing and the color balance and metering is brilliant. If you currently own a Canon digital camera and are upgrading, the basic navigation of features remains mainly the identical, so that will be common to you. Access to the camera’s shooting styles use menus instead than a physical dial as on the A95.
The screen is pretty large, well illuminated and easy to view, even in bright light. Ultimately, the most essential consideration with digital photography should be image quality and ease of use. I have lot of practice with non-automatic SLR film cameras and similar point and shoots, and this model fits absolutely for true “turn it on and shoot” picture taking. Images are clear and vivid with solid detail and vibrant color.
The luminosity measure performs well in assessing the scene and selecting the best possible combination of shutter speed and aperture.
A high capacity (SDHC) storage card will give a insane amount of pictures even at the full resolution. Uploading photos to a PC or Mac is easy with either the supplied software or Apple’s iPhoto package, which works seamlessly with the camera. I would recommend both a high capacity SD card and the optional leather case to protect the camera, especially if dropped.
This camera is just perfect. It makes brilliant images in full-auto mode. In situations where full-auto doesn’t quite do the job as good as possible, this camera permits you change of ISO settings, white balance, focusing method, and lots of other factors.
I extremely recommend Canon SD770IS for someone searching for an easy-to-use, light, small and impressive digital camera. It’s simply a marvellous camera at a great price.
