Sony KDL46W4100 Review

The Sony KDL46W4100 is an fascinating and extremely featured LCD tv set. We were almost impressed by its performance, deep, correct whites and a brilliant display. That doesn’t mean there are no negative sides, because the color reproduction is a little off and the viewing angle are not really good.

If you are movie fan or you like some other fast moving action on your television, then this LCD television has got a plenty of things to offer you. The Sony KDL46W4100 performed great in our movement tests. We saw clean movement with videos that had a lots of motion, and the display had no issues processing an image.

This Sony televison supports a full High Definition or true HD picture. The selection of connectors is great, including 4 HDMI interfaces. Regrettably it does lack a USB interface or some card reader.

This TV as well offers TruSurround and that is a trademarked surround technology that solves the problem of running 5.1 channel sound over 2 speakers. This TV delivers a outstanding virtual surround sound through any 2 speaker units, including internal television speaker systems and headphones. It is fully capable of reproducing all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels.
This tv set also has 3 audio enhancement technologies to reproduce an impressive sound. Outstanding sound with the solid image quality really makes this Sony Bravia TV a solid one.

The Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 did well in our testing of of dark and white colors. Black colors were really deep, specially for an HDTV of this price range. Whites and gray colors were brilliant and precise.
This TV really has excellent colors, we have seen consistent whites and a clean, exact representation of the basic colors that are used to make all colors on the screen. We were satisfied with the coloring, but we have noticed a slight problem with the televisions color gamut, which means colors may not everytime come out exactly they should.

Maybe the largest problem with this LCD TV is a viewing angle. Moving away from center we saw that the contrast ratio was decreasing. Contrast ratio is the difference in reproducing the black and light colors. This tv set doesn’t have a very good viewing angle, even for an LCD TV, which usually don’t perform as well in this area as Plasma TVs.

The remote control of Sony Bravia KDL46W4100 is really adequate to hold and well laid out with the exception that the controls for direction are at the opposite end of the remote from the volume buttons. The menu on the TV is similar of that used in the Playstation 3, and will take some time to get used to it.

Power consumption is around average. You can use this TV without worrying you’ll get a large bill for electrics.

This Sony KDL46W4100 is a really pleasant LCD TV, with a a lot of features and brilliant handling on almost all fields. The viewing angle matter will be serious for pickier ones. If you need a TV that will sit in a place where people will be looking at it from all angles you may want to go with a Plasma. If this isn’t an problem for you, then you will be getting your money’s value with the Sony KDL46W4100.
