I purchased this television in the late 2008 and have found it to be an an absolutely good purchase.
Some people said that the television has issues while the black shades are switching. Ilooked at this in the store with great details and have used it for a month and now I can say for sure that my TV doesn’t have that problem. This is a extremely sharp TV with superior colors and strong black tones. This TV is a lot greater than the previous TV model from the same W series.
Here are the the reasons why you should get this LCD TV. It has a so perfect image in high definition and is doing a flawless job in Analog transmission a lot better than some other tv sets I have used. For that it’s respossible a good technology from Sony named DSP which is essentially noise reduction technology. Sony is familiar with Blu-ray because afterall they manufactured it, they know whit skin tones should appear I mean they have a movie studio, the tv menus are very easy to use, it has its own TV guide and it has future expansion capability.
Picture quality is pretty near Samsung in high definition. I looked at both televisions side by side. Samsung is a bit better on clarity in standard definition. Samsung is more shiny, Sony has a matte screen but darks on Samsung are pretty good because it has a glossy screen. While watching a Blu-ray disc,Sony has a bit more details. No fade from bright to dark problems on Sony as some reviews has noticed. Colors are pleasant and rich as Sony Bravia two engine is outstanding, perhaps even better than XBR engine.I’ve found that the Z series is better but there aren’t 52 inche models
Tv menus on TVs are made for experts with a lots of tweeks, but really it’s confusing for average Joe. If you don’t believe me, download the user manual for the Samsung LN52A650 and for Sony KDL524100 and see for yourself. If you are technical person, go for the Samsung. If you don’t like to get lost in menus, but get an outstanding image, you should buy Sony. Ths Sony TV is very easy to use, but also it it will find you channels itself and is like you have built in cable box.
The Sony television doesn’t have the Ethernet connector and built in news like the series 6 from Samsung, but it has the built in TV guide and option for upgrades. But, if you want internet in your TV, you are better to be connected through other device. The TV guide feature in this television is good and the Sony Bravia Sync is great especially when you are using a Sony DVD converter for 1080p. Picture in Picture technology is great also because it’s allowing you to watch image from HDMI and at the same time watch cable TV.
A favorite thing on Sony KDL52W4100 is the power button on the top side as this is keeping children from turning off TV. Also a good thing is the remote on the Sony as it is really simple to use.
In the end, if you like the a very clear image, simple to use LCD TV with that makes usuall television viewing smooth and simple. This Sony KDL52W4100 is outstanding choice.
